The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge and the Cambodian National Tuberculosis Program were working close together to implement the TB SPEED Research Project, which aims to reduce TB mortality in children by improving diagnosis. The project was deployed between 2017 and 2022 in seven limited-resources countries with a high incidence of tuberculosis: Cambodia, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia.

After five intensive years, the TB-Speed project is coming to the end. This 5th year was very much dedicated to the restitution of the project results and tools to the national tuberculosis programs of countries participating in the project, to other national programs from high burden countries but also to national and international stakeholders in the field of tuberculosis and to the scientific community.

Recently, the TB speed Pneumonia conducted a study aimed to evaluate the effect of systematic tuberculosis detection on mortality in young children with severe pneumonia in countries with high incidence of tuberculosis: a stepped-wedge cluster-randomised trial. Its findings have just been published in the Lancet Infectious Diseases.
