On June 22^nd, the Director of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, Prof. André Spiegel, the Deputy-Director, Dr Ly Sowath, and the Head of the Vaccination Service, Dr Peng Yiksing, went to Kampong Cham to meet the team of the Rabies Prevention Center.

The Rabies Prevention Center was opened on 7th March 2019 in Kampong Cham Province as part of the response to a sudden surge of patients seeking rabies prevention following wounding caused by dogs or cats. The center is located within Kampong Cham Provincial Referral Hospital and provided more than 6000 Rabies Post Exposure Prophylaxis in 2021.

During the mission IPC’s delegation met with His Excellency Dr Kimsuor Phearun, Director of Provincial Health Department (PHD) and Dr THAN Sovanndeth Deputy-Director of Kampong Cham Provincial Hospital in presence of senior PHD/Hospital leaders to discuss the achievements of the collaboration between the IPC and provincial authorities and to determine future projects that would benefit the public health of the population.
