Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) participated to Avian Influenza Symposium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
On December 10 th, The Avian Influenza Symposium began with welcome remarks from His Excellency Prof. KOY Vanny, Secretary of State, Representative of H.E. Prof. CHHEANG Ra, Minister of Health. Prof. André Spiegel, Director of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC), then emphasized the institute’s dedication to public health and global collaboration against avian influenza. Dr. Rebecca Grais, Executive Director of the Pasteur Network, highlighted the symposium’s role in showcasing diverse expertise from scientific research to public health responses. The event brought together experts to discuss challenges of avian influenza, with presentations on One Health strategies by Prof. Vijaykrishna Dhanasekaran and Dr. Erik Karlsson, exploring human, animal, and environmental health integration. Cambodian representatives from the National Animal Health and Production Research Institute (NAHPRI) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) shared insights on the local impact and prevention solutions. Prof. Ian Barr from the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza provided insights into seasonal influenza trends and zoonotic spillovers in the Asia-Pacific region.
