On October 30, IPC welcomed H.E. Igor Driesmans, Ambassador of the European Union (EU), accompanied by Ms. Flora Bertizzolo, Programme Manager, and Ms. Phalkun Chan, Press and Information Officer. During a brief presentation, Prof. André Spiegel, Director of the IPC, gave an overview of the Institute’s activities and Mr. LIM Hokkean, Head of the Hygiene, Safety, Quality and Metrology Service, explained the benefits and operation of the 2 equipment funded by the EU to enhance biosafety: the infectious waste preshredder and steam sterilization system (STERIPLUS^TM80) and the Steam Sterilizer (Matachana S1000) for the Biosafety-Level-3 Laboratory and IPC. These state-of-the-art tools are essential to the safe handling of biohazardous waste from our activities.
