Dr Jaana Marianna TRIAS, WHO Representative to Cambodia visited IPC on 26 September 2024.
On Thursday, 26th September, Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) had the pleasure and the honor of welcoming Dr. Jaana Marianna Trias, WHO Representative to Cambodia accompanied by Dr. Pascal Ringwald, Coordinator of the Mekong Malaria Elimination Programme.
The visit began with an introduction by IPC’s Director, Dr. André Spiegel, who provided an overview of IPC’s mission and activities. Following this, Dr. Veasna Duong and Dr. Erik Karlsson presented the key achievements and ongoing work of the Reference Centers and the Virology Unit, particularly in relation to flu, avian flu, dengue and Mpox. Dr. Jean Popovici then shared updates on IPC’s efforts in malaria research and the progress of the malaria program.
The visit concluded with a productive discussion, followed by a tour of IPC’s facilities, including the Rabies Preventive Center, the Virology Unit, The Lab Environmental & Food Safety, the Malaria Research Unit, and Entomology Unit.
The visit was an opportunity to discuss the very close collaboration between WHO and the IPC, particularly in terms of a joint mission to support the Cambodian MoH..
