Exploring the world of insects: launch of the book entitled "Insects of Cambodia", the fruit of close collaboration between the IPC and SIPAR Editions.
Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the afternoon, the Management of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) and Dr. Sébastien BOYER, Head of the Medical and Veterinary Entomology Unit at the IPC and co-author of the book “Insects in Cambodia”, invited French speaking partners of the French Embassy involved in Education to the IPC to give them with two books in French as part of its launch. Those in attendance included : Lycée Français René Descartes, Ecole Française Internationale, Ecole Acacia and the NGO Happy Chandara. The IPC will also be donating two books to other institutions that were unfortunately unavailable on the day.
Another book launch event also took place on March 14, 2024, at the Sosoro Museum. Thursday evening, representatives from SIPAR Editions and the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge were present together to showcase the result of their educative partnership. Participants not only got a firsthand look at the contents of the book, but also had the opportunity to engage with the creators delve into the intriguing world of Cambodia’s insects. An entomology photo exhibition was also set up during the evening by the IPC in the garden of the Sosoro Museum.
“Insects of Cambodia”, available in English, French and Khmer, is designed to capture curiosity and appreciation of Cambodia’s rich insect diversity among young readers with its engaging content, easy-to-understand language and vibrant illustrations. The book serves as an educational tool, aiming to instill in young readers an understanding of the vital role insects play in our environment. It can also bring knowledge to curious adults.
This fruitful collaboration between SIPAR and the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is to be commended, offering the Kingdom of Cambodia a genuine publishing success. Let’s hope that this initiative is just the prelude to equally rewarding future collaborations.
