Institut Pasteur du Cambodge partner of the film "Wat-Health: Water and health risks in Cambodia"
On July 11, 2023, the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) in Montpellier hosted a screening of the film “Wat Health: Water and health risks in Cambodia”, in which the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge is a partner.
The film “Wat-Health” looks back at the eponymous multidisciplinary research project through the eyes of those involved, highlighting some of the key interests and difficulties encountered. After the screening, four researchers involved in the project took part in a round-table discussion.
The aim of the “Wat-Health – Water and Health Risks in Cambodia” project (#FSPI 2021-2022) was to determine how changes in river flood regimes affect the distribution of pollutants and lead to changes in the biodiversity of pathogens and vectors of water-related diseases, with ultimate effects on health, agricultural production and the environment.
The project also brought together 4 IRD research units (UMR G-eau, #LMI_DRISA_MIVEGEC, UMR Espace-Dev, and #IGE) as well as 2 other Cambodian partners (Institut de Technologie du Cambodge and សាកលវិទ្យាល័យភូមិន្ទកសិកម្ម RUA – Royal University of Agriculture). The multidisciplinary nature of this research required the coordination of a number of interlocking themes.
