Dr Janin Nouhin attented to the 20th International Congress on Infectious Diseases in Cape Town, South Africa
From December 3 to 6, 2024, Janin Nouhin, Deputy Head of the Virology Unit at Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC), represented IPC at the 20th International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Nouhin received a travel award from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to present preliminary data on ticks and tick-borne pathogens in a rural community of Cambodia. This data underscored the need for large-scale studies using a One Health approach to assess the risks of tick-borne diseases at the intersection of animal health, human health, and the environment in Cambodia. This study was funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health under Award Number U01AI151378 through Pasteur International Center for Research in Emerging Infectious Diseases (PICREID). The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.
The event gathered experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals to address global challenges in infectious disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. IPC’s scientific participation highlighted its commitment to advancing virology research and combating infectious diseases in Cambodia and worldwide.
