IPC Hosts the 3rd RAPID Symposium on Antimicrobial Resistance
On December 11, 2024, the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge hosted the 3rd RAPID Symposium under the theme “One Health Perspective to Address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the Asia-Pacific Region. ” The event brought together experts, researchers, and policymakers to address the pressing issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The symposium opened with remarks by Prof. André Spiegel, Director of Institut Pasteur du Cambodge, and Dr. Sidonn Krang, on behalf of H.E. Dr. Sovann Ly, Director of the Department of Communicable Disease at the Ministry of Health.Discussions focused on the AMR research landscape in Cambodia and other countries from Asia- Pacific region, antimicrobial stewardship, genomic tracking, and the effects of climate change on resistance. Speakers from the health, agriculture, and scientific communities presented findings and insights, fostering collaboration and advancing efforts to combat AMR in the region.
