Liaison Council of IPC and visit of Prof. Stewart COLE, President of Institut Pasteur in Paris
On May 24th, the Institut Pasteur du Cambdoge (IPC) held its annual liaison council under the presidency of His Excellency Professor Mam Bunheng, Minister of Heath of the Royal Government of Cambodia and, on this occasion, IPC had the pleasure to welcome Professor Stewart Cole, President of Institut Pasteur (Paris, France) who attended this meeting in person and met with HE Professor Mam Bunheng in his office at the Ministry of Health prior to the liaison council.
On the first day of his visit (May 23th) , Professor Stewart Cole had the honor to be granted an Audience with his majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, testifying of the importance of the institute in Cambodia. His Majesty expressed Cambodia’s pride in hosting such a structure and expressed his warmest thanks for the work accomplished for almost 70 years for the benefit of the Cambodian population.
Later Professor Stewart Cole had also the opportunity to meet with the head of units of the IPC who exposed him the activities they carry out. He also visited the institute, met with the team who introduced him more specifically their laboratory, technical facilities and perspective in their field of research.
During his visit to Cambodia, Professor Stewart Cole was also welcomed by HE SAPHONN Vonthanak, Rector of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) to discuss the collaboration between the IPC and the UHS such as the International Master of Infectiology and other various projects.
Finally, Pr COLE was able to meet the French Ambassador to Cambodge, HE Mr. Jacques PELLET during a cocktail party which had been organized in his honor on the evening of May 24 and during a lunch at the Résidence de France on May 25th. .
